Kissimmee Chain of Lakes

By-request guided trips on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes — Toho, Kissimmee, and more. Trophy largemouth bass and outstanding crappie fishing in Central Florida.

The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes

The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes is one of Florida’s most famous freshwater destinations, and for good reason. This connected series of lakes — including Lake Tohopekaliga (Toho), East Lake Toho, Lake Kissimmee, Cypress, Hatchineha, and others — has a long history of producing giant largemouth bass and stacked-up crappie. If you’ve followed bass tournaments or read about Florida trophy fishing, you’ve heard these names.

I offer guided trips here by request. While Lake Okeechobee is my home water, the Kissimmee Chain is a natural addition for anglers who want to experience another legendary fishery, or who are coming from the Orlando area and want a guide who knows how to put them on fish.

Why Anglers Love It

The Chain has built its reputation on two things: trophy bass and excellent crappie.

  • Trophy largemouth — These lakes are known nationally for kicking out double-digit Florida-strain bass, especially during the winter and spring spawn. Toho and Kissimmee in particular have a storied history with big fish.
  • Crappie (specks) — The Chain offers some of the best crappie fishing in the state, with strong numbers and quality slabs through the cooler months.
  • Diverse cover — Hydrilla, eel grass, Kissimmee grass, pads, and reed lines give fish plenty of places to live and give us plenty of ways to target them.

Seasonal Notes

Like most Central and South Florida lakes, the Chain fishes best for bass from late fall through spring. The pre-spawn and spawn windows — roughly December into April — are when the heaviest fish move shallow and become catchable on wild shiners, soft plastics, and reaction baits. Crappie school up and bite hard through the same cool-season stretch, making winter a great time to plan a numbers-focused trip.

Summer brings strong early-morning topwater and frog action before the heat and afternoon storms set in, plus dependable panfish.

Getting There

The Kissimmee Chain is located north of Lake Okeechobee in the greater Orlando area. For anglers staying near the Big O, it’s a reasonable drive, and for visitors flying into Orlando it can be the most convenient choice. Because these are by-request trips, reach out early so we can coordinate timing, the right launch, and the lake that’s fishing best for what you want to catch.
